University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) is published by the URAP Research Laboratory at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara. It is a research-based ranking that uses data from InCites and now ranks 3000 universities.

There are three Mainland Chinese universities in this year’s top ten and twenty-three in the top one hundred. The top 100 also have seven British universities and five each from France, Germany, Australia, and Canada, while the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Denmark, Belgium. Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Brazil. Hong Kong, Spain, Sweden, and South Kores are also included.

The indicators are as follows:

Article; current scientific productivity Weighting 21%)

Citation; research impact (10%)

Total document; scientific productivity (21%)

Article impact total research; research quality (18%)

Citation impact total; research quality (15%)

International collaboration; international acceptance (15%).

Current Scientific Productivity includes data for 2022 and that for the other indicators is from 2018-2022.

The top five universities overall are:

1. Harvard University, USA
2. University of Toronto, Canada
3. University College London, UK
4. University of Oxford, UK
5. Tsinghua University, China.
