Latest THE Asian University Rankings
Times Higher Education (THE) have announced the latest edition of their Asian University Rankings. There are not many surprises in the overall tables but some scores for the Research Quality metric have aroused concern, especially in India.

QS International Trade Rankings
QS have developed International Trade Rankings in partnership with the Hinrich Foundation. The rankings, published in February of this year, cover master’s and MBA programmes in international trade. There is also a table for executive MBAs. Twenty-eight countries are included although Latin America, Africa and the Middle East are not represented.

Best Chinese Universities Ranking
Shanghai Ranking Consultancy have announced the latest edition of their Best Chinese Universities Ranking (BCUR). The methodology is complex and very different from that of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). It varies according to the type of university.

US News Graduate School Rankings
US News have published the latest edition of their Best Graduate Schools, which have been eagerly awaited in the USA and beyond. The Law School and Business School rankings in particular are closely followed by students, teachers, and the media, and have often been the source of fierce controversy.

New Japan Ranking from THE
Times Higher Education (THE) have announced the latest edition of their Japan University Rankings. These use a different methodology from the world rankings and are focused on teaching rather than research.

Ranking of Political Science Productivity from Cambridge
PS: Political Science and Politics, a journal published by Cambridge University Press, has just published an article by Joan Barceló, Chistopher Paik, Peter van der Windt, and Haoyu Zhai, ‘A Global Ranking of Research Productivity of Political Science Departments’.

New Wikipedia Ranking of Universities
Ivan Sterligov of E-Quadrat Science & Education, a Berlin based consulting firm, has developed a university ranking tool based on visits to Wikipedia, which is considered a valuable measure of public interest. The relevant metric is the median of pageviews for 12 bimonthly periods in 2023-24. The ranking includes degree granting institutions, some specialised post-secondary institutions, and even Eton College, a prestigious independent secondary school.

National Academy of Inventors Announces University Rankings
The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) is an organization, based in Florida, comprising 260 universities, government agencies, and research institutes. Since 2013 it has published a list of the top 100 international universities that were granted utility patents during the calendar year. Data is provided by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
