QS Publishes Indian University Rankings

QS has published the 2020 edition of its India University Rankings. The upper level is dominated, as expected, by the Indian Institutes of Technology which take seven out of the top ten places. The methodology is based on that of the World University Rankings but with modifications to suit national priorities. There are three additional indicators, Staff with PhD, Papers per Faculty, and Citations per Paper. The weighting for the Academic Survey has been reduced and that for the Employer Survey increased. Citations per Faculty has been dropped and the weightings for International Students and International Faculty have been reduced.

The top ten universities overall are:

  2. Indian Institute of Science
  3. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
  4. Indian Institute of TechnologyMadras
  5. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
  6. Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
  7. University of Delhi
  8. University of Hyderabad
  9. Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee
  10. Indian Institute of TechnologyGuwahati.
