Clarivate recently published a list of researchers who, based on data supplied by the Institute of Scientific Information, have produced work of Nobel prize quality. Prizes are awarded in the disciplines of Physiology and Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, and Economics.
Judging from the current list, the old elite institutions continue to dominate scientific research at the highest level.
Of these researchers, sixteen work in the United States, two each in the United Kingdom, Japan, and France, and one in Germany. These lists have been highly predictive of the eventual winners of Nobel prizes, which is one of the indicators in the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities.
