The General Assembly of IREG Observatory meeting in Abu Dhabi, UAE on 9 December 2025 elected Prof. Komiljon Karimov, Rector of Westminster International University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan as a member of IREG Executive Committee, this body in turn elevated him to the position of IREG Vice President.
Karimov's professional track record is truly impressive. He served as a diplomat at the Uzbek Embassy in Paris; he served for several years as Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Karimov was also a speaker at the earlier IREG conferences held in Warsaw (2022), Tashkent (2023), and in Bucharest (2024).
He was a keynote speaker at the IREG 2025 conference University Rankings and Challenges of Sustainability organized by IREG jointly with Abu Dhabi University as part of ICASF 2025 Conference on sustainability.
