Financial Times MBA Ranking

The latest edition of the Financial Times MBA rankings was published in the middle of February. There has been a lot of churning, and some famous American and British schools have fallen while several from Asia have improve significantly.

The methodology is based on 21 criteria, of which eight are derived from alumni responses, twelve from institutional data, and one, research rank, is based on journal publications.

Harvard Business School has fallen to thirteenth place from fourth two years ago, and University of California Berkeley Haas from seventh to fifteenth, while Stanford Graduate School of Business has been excluded, apparently because of insufficient responses to the alumni survey.

In contrast, the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Colleges of Business has risen from 23rd to 15th and the Institute of Management Ahmedabad from 31st to 51st.

The top five schools in this year’s composite rankings are:

  1. University of Pennsylvania: Wharton, USA
  2. Columbia Business School, USA
  3. IESE Business School, Spain

4=  Insead, France

4=  SDA Bocconi School of Management, Italy.

The top school in selected indicators is:

Weighted Salary; Harvard Business School, USA

Value for Money; University of Georgia: Terry, USA

FT Research Rank; University of Pennsylvania: Wharton, USA

Alumni Network Rank; Dartmouth College, Tuck

International Mobility Rank; IMD – International Institute for Management Development, Switzerland.
