Times Higher Education (THE) has published the latest edition of the Global
University Employability Rankings which are produced by Emerging, a French
human resource consulting company. The ranking of 250 universities is based
on a survey of recruiters at leading global companies. The United States and
Western Europe continue to lead for employability. The top one hundred
institutions include 23 from the United States, nine each from Germany and
France and seven from the United Kingdom.

East Asia is fairly well represented with four Chinese, four South Korean, four
Japanese, and three Hong Kong universities in the top 100. There are no
universities from Africa and only one from Latin America.

It is noticeable that many of the institutions that are at the top of the
employability rankings perform much less well in the THE world rankings,
which are biased towards research. These include the Technical University of
Munich, Tokyo Institute of Technology, the University of Navarra and the
Indian Institute of Science.

The top ten this year are:

1. Harvard University
2. California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
3. Massachusetts Institute of technology (MIT)
4. University of Cambridge
5. Stanford University
6. Technical University of Munich
7. University of Tokyo
8. Princeton University
9. Yale University
10. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
