Times Higher Education (THE) has just announced the latest edition of the Global Employability University Ranking and Survey (GEURS), conducted by Emerging, the French based Human Resources consulting firm.
The ranking is based on a survey of corporate managers in 24 countries who were asked to rate the employability performance of 1000 universities.
The top five universities are unchanged since last year: Massachusetts Institute Technology (MIT), California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Harvard University, University of Cambridge, and Stanford University.
American universities dominate the rankings this year and some, including the Florida Institute of Technology, Carnegie Mellon University, Michigan State University, and Arizona State University, have improved quite significantly. Some European institutions such as the London Business School, the University of Cologne, and Complutense University of Madrid have also moved up several places.
The survey shows that there has been a significant change in employers’ attitudes since the onset of the pandemic. Graduate skills and specialization now are considered more important than academic performance, which was the most important employability driver in 2019.
