CodeSignal is a California-based company specializing in the training and assessment of software developers. Among its initiatives is the University Ranking Report, which is based on the General Coding Assessment, “the industry standard for evaluation of core programming and computer science fundamentals taught in most undergraduate programs in the US.”
The Assessment consists of language writing tasks and is used by leading companies as a technical assessment tool.
The leading school is Carnegie Mellon University. Many of the universities at the top of the list are well-known institutions such as MIT, UCLA, and Caltech.
However, many highly ranked universities, such as Syracuse University, Rutgers University, and Santa Clara University, do not appear in the US News Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs and are unlikely to be targeted by recruiters.
The rankings also include three non-US universities in the top 50: Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, University of Waterloo, Canada, and University College London.
The top five universities are:
- Carnegie Mellon University
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- Stony Brook University
- University of California, Los Angeles
- University of Pennsylvania.
