PitchBook is a financial data and research platform, based in Seattle, London, and Singapore, with offices in New York and San Francisco. It is now owned by Morningstar Inc and publishes an annual list of universities whose alumni have raised venture capital.

American universities, including the Ivy League and those in California, dominate this year’s rankings, with Berkeley leading for undergraduate founders, Stanford for graduates, and Harvard for MBAs. However, Canadian, Indian, and Israeli universities are also well represented. The University of Toronto is in seventeenth place for undergraduates, the University of Tel Aviv in seventh, and there are five Indian Institutes of Technology in the top fifty.

PitchBook also provides data on female entrepreneurs. American institutions also hold the lead here, taking the top five places in all three categories.

There are only two Chinese universities in the top hundred for undergraduate founders, Tsinghua and Peking, one from Africa, Cape Town, and none from Latin America or the Arab Region.
