The UI GreenMetric ranking is produced by Universitas Indonesia (UI) and is the first global ranking that assesses universities’ contributions to sustainability. It’s first edition was published in 2010, and it has expanded to include 1,745 institutions.

The methodology has remained stable and comprises six groups of indicators:

  • Settings and Infrastructure (15%)
  • Energy and Climate Change (21%)
  • Water (10%)
  • Waste (18%)
  • Transportation (18%)
  • Education and Research (18%).

This year, the United Kingdom is represented only by Nottingham Trent University, which is in third place, Mainland China by Fudan University, Israel by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Hong Kong by the Hang Seng University.
