The AD Scientific Index is a “real-time academic performance analysis platform” that publishes rankings based on Google Scholar profiles, which are more inclusive than Scopus or Web of Science.

It includes rankings of individual scientists, countries, and universities and provides tables for H-index, i10 index, and citations. Data are counted over lifetimes and for the last five years. The founders are Murat Alper and Cihan Döğer.

These rankings represent an innovative approach as they are updated every 20 days and refreshed every three days rather than being published on an annual basis. The methodology also uses AI to detect anomalies in addition to manual auditing.

The various tables offered by the platform, as of the date of writing, show that universities in the Ivy League, large US state schools and Oxbridge continue to dominate. The rankings for H-index, i10 index and citations are all led by Harvard, with Oxford, Cambridge and University College London in the top twenty.

The ranking of individual scientists looks more diverse, with scientists from Spain, Hong Kong, Denmark and South Korea in the top ten of the various tables.  Here are the top ten scientists for H-index:

  1. Alberto Ruiz Jimeno, Universidad de Cantabria, Spain
  2. H J Kim, Kyungpook National University, South Korea
  3. Francisco Matorras Universidad de Cantabria, Spain
  4. Ronald C Kessler, Harvard University, USA
  5. S B Kim, Seoul National University, South Korea
  6. Zhong Lin Wang, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA
  7. Robert Langer, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA
  8. Frank B Hu, Harvard University, USA
  9. Joann E Manson, Harvard University, USA
  10. Eric Lander, Harvard University, USA.
