Methodology

The ranking considers the 50 most popular subjects among students and the five best universities where to study them, giving 250 programs ranked in total. It considers the following criteria:

TEACHER QUESTIONNAIRE (40% OF THE FINAL ASSESSMENT)

In a voluntary, anonymous and random survey, teachers assess which are the best centers to teach their degree; the strengths and weaknesses of the university; and outline the main lines of research of the departments.

DATA FROM THE UNIVERSITY (50% OF THE FINAL ASSESSMENT)

Human Resources

  • Proportion of students in relation to Teaching and Research Staff (PDI).
  • Current expenditure per enrolled student: Budgetary effort and resources invested. 

 

Physical resources 

  • Positions in classrooms / number of students: Degree of occupancy of the classes and availability.
  • Positions in laboratories / number of students: Correct equipment and the number of spaces for practical teaching.
  • Positions in libraries / number of students.
  • Number of copies in the library: Endowment of the university libraries.
  • Number of positions in computer rooms / number of students: Incorporation of New Technologies in the faculty.
  • Internet connection type. 

 

Curriculum 

  • Number of credits and study plans: reveals the composition, structure and duration of each plan.
  • Number of practical / theoretical credits: Importance of practical teaching in the study plan.
  • Optional offer of the degree: This variable makes it possible to know the curricular flexibility.
  • Practical credits in companies: Compulsory practical training decisively complements student learning. 

 

Results 

  • Teaching: Methodology and its importance, adaptation to the new parameters of the EHEA, possibility for the student to evaluate the teacher, etc. 

 

Context information 

  • Number of research projects in progress.
  • Number of languages offered: The facility that the center provides.
  • Study Abroad Programs: International agreements encourage student mobility and learning.
  • Price per credit.
  • How has the Faculty faced the change to the European Higher Education Area? 

 

University demand 

  • Number of students.
  • Course grade and places provided for that course. 

 

OTHER INDICATORS (10% OF THE FINAL ASSESSMENT) 

Other indicators taken into account, such as results in international rankings, Aneca reports or results of reports from Spanish universities, etc.
