RAEX-100 Ranking of the Best Universities in Russia is an integral assessment of the education quality of university graduates, determined by the quantitative parameters of their educational and research activities and qualitative characteristics that reflect the opinion of key reference groups: employers, representatives of academic and scientific circles, as well as students and graduates. Statistical information is based on university survey data, scientometric indicators and information from open sources. The ranking considers 43 indicators grouped in three areas:
CONDITIONS FOR OBTAINING A QUALITY EDUCATION (50%)
- Teaching Quality (12.5%), including:
- The ratio of full-time faculty per 100 students.
- Percentage of faculty who are members of national academies.
- Proportion of faculty with advanced degrees.
- The number of student Olympiad winners.
- Academic peers’ assessments of teaching quality.
- International Integration (12.5%), including:
- Academic peers’ assessments of international integration.
- Proportion of international full-time students.
- Percentage of students enrolled in dual-degree programs with foreign institutions.
- Percentage of students who studied abroad for at least one semester.
- Resource Availability (12.5%), including:
- Financial resources available per student.
- Endowment fund strength, based on its size and number of donors.
- Academic assessments of resource adequacy.
- Popularity Among Applicants (12.5%), including:
- Average tuition cost for first-year students.
- Share of students admitted via Olympiad achievements without other entrance exams.
- Average Unified State Exam scores of admitted students in budgeted and self-funded programs.
GRADUATE DEMAND BY EMPLOYERS (30%)
- Graduate Career Success (15%), including:
- Graduate evaluations of their practical skills and knowledge.
- Alumni in top management roles in major companies and federal government bodies.
- Employer assessments of graduates’ practical skills, leadership capabilities, career prospects, and competitiveness.
- Employer Collaboration (15%), including:
- Percentage of students trained in university-affiliated departments.
- University revenue from professional training programs.
- Employer and graduate assessments of university-industry collaboration.
LEVEL OF RESEARCH ACTIVITY (20%)
- Research Potential (6%), including:
- Annual R&D funding.
- Grants awarded by the Russian Science Foundation.
- Student involvement in R&D, measured by engagement and remuneration.
- Number of dissertations defended per 100 students.
- Enrollment in postgraduate and research programs.
- Peer assessments of university research levels.
- Scientific Achievements (10%), including:
- Publications in international journals per academic staff member.
- Citation averages and total citations per academic from international and Russian databases.
- Peer evaluations of research influence.
- Research Infrastructure (4%), including:
- Peer evaluations of research infrastructure quality.
- Number of labs and design departments.
- University innovation units.
- Commercial success of university research.
