Methodology

The Perspektywy Ranking by Subject 2024 evaluates the most popular fields of study across Polish universities, covering 74 disciplines within nine main areas: humanities, social sciences, economics, science, natural sciences, technology, medicine and health, agriculture, forestry, and veterinary sciences. The ranking is based on 12–13 indicators grouped into six key criteria, with different weights assigned to each criterion depending on the nature of the field.

REPUTATION

  • Academic Reputation – Determined by survey responses from academic staff, conducted by the Perspektywy Education Foundation.

 

EMPLOYABILITY

  • Alumni Earnings – Average alumni earnings from 2018-2021 relative to national averages, sourced from the “Polish Graduate Tracking System" (ELA) by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education using Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) data.
  • Alumni Employment – Average length of employment for alumni from 2018-2021, based on the ELA study by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, using ZUS data.

 

ACADEMIC POTENTIAL

  • Scientific Category – Assesses the primary discipline of each field based on the university's scientific evaluation.

 

TEACHING

  • Accreditations – Number of national and international accreditations, including those awarded with distinction by the Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) and PKA’s Certificates of Education Excellence.
  • Quality of Admitted Students – Based on the secondary school results of first-year students admitted by October 1, 2023. This reflects both the institution's quality and the impact of talented candidates on academic standards.

 

RESEARCH

  • Publications – Number of publications in SCOPUS (2019–2023) relevant to the field’s primary discipline.
  • Citations – Total citations from 2019–2023 relative to the number of publications cited.
  • Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) – Compares citation impact against average citation counts for similar SCOPUS-indexed publications (2019–2023).
  • Field-Weighted View Impact (FWVI) – Measures online views relative to average views for similar SCOPUS publications (2019–2023).
  • Top 10 Publications – Percentage of university publications appearing in the top 10% most-cited journals globally, based on CiteScore, within 2019–2023.

 

INTERNATIONALIZATION

  • International Co-authored Publications – Percentage of publications (2019–2023) with international co-authorship.
  • International Students – Share of foreign students within the faculty’s total enrollment.

 

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA

  • Medical Examinations – Specific to medicine and dentistry fields, based on State Medical Examination results, including exam success rates.
  • Apprentice Examination – Specific to law fields, reflecting pass rates in legal advisor and attorney exams.
  • EngiRank – Applied to select engineering fields based on the EngiRank 2023, covering disciplines such as Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Medical Engineering.
