In calculating the top universities in Asia, the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings use the same performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, but they are recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asia’s institutions. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas:

Teaching (the learning environment): 24.5%

  • Teaching reputation 10%
  • Staff-to-student ratio 4.5%
  • Doctorate-to-bachelor’s ratio 2%
  • Doctorates-awarded-to-academic-staff ratio 5.5%
  • Institutional income 2.5%

 

Research environment: 28%

Research quality: 30%
