QS Arab Region Rankings: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and UAE Perform Well

QS has released a new edition of their Arab region rankings. These contain ten indicators, some original and some derived from the World University Rankings.

The top spot overall is held by King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Other Saudi universities with high scores are King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, King Saud University, Umm Al-Qura University, and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, the world’s largest women’s university. Jordan, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Qatar are also represented in the top levels of the rankings.

The ten indicators are: Academic reputation, Employer reputation, Faculty student reputation, International research network, Web impact, Proportion of staff with PhD, Citations per paper, Papers per faculty, Proportion of international faculty and students.

The top five universities overall are:

  1. King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia
  2. Qatar University
  3. King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia
  4. American University of Beirut, Lebanon
  5. United Arab Emirates University.

The top university for each of the indicators is:

International students; American University in Dubai, UAE

International research network; King Saud University, Saudi Arabia

International faculty; Al Ain University, UAE

Faculty student ration; University of Information Technology and Communication, Iraq

Web impact; American University of Beirut

Citations per paper; King Abdulaziz University

Papers per faculty; Khalifa university, UAE

Academic reputation; King Abdulaziz University

Employer reputation; King Abdulaziz University

Faculty with PhD; Khalifa University.
