HackerRank a technology company that assesses student software developer skills on behalf of potential employers. It has just released rankings based on 14 million student assessments covering four criteria, Problem Solving, Language Proficiency, Data Structure Knowledge, and Computer Science Fundamentals. There are rankings for three regions; the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Asia is dominated by the Indian Institutes of Technology Guwahati, Madras, Hyderabad, Bombay, and Kanpur. In the Americas the University of California Berkeley is in the top five for each of the four skills. In Europe, Middle East and Africa, University College London tops the chart for three while Bilkent University in Ankara is first for Computer Science Fundamentals. Two other Turkish institutions, Middle East Technical University and Sabanci University also perform very well.
