Research universities, initiatives of excellence, international and national rankings, accreditations, innovativeness of higher education were the topics of the second conference  “Polish universities in the global perspective - Rankings and strategic management of a university ",  held  in Warsaw 27-28 November 2017. Over 160 participants rectors, vice rectors and directors of international offices took part in the conference, organized jointly by Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP), Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) and Perspektywy Education Foundation. Jarosław Gowin,Deputy Prime Minister and  Minister of Science and Higher Education extended his patronage over the conference.

Among the international speakers were: Felix Haest, Vice President of Elsevier Prof. Farid Ouabdesselam, Dierctor, French National Research Agency ANR, France, Xuejun (Snow) Wang, Shanghai Ranking Agency (China), Prof. Gunnar Oquist, Umea University (Sweden),Gero Federkeil, Head of International Rankings, U-Multirank , CHE (Germany), Prof. Paul Wouters, Director, Center for Science and Technology Studies, Leiden University (the Netherlands), Marine Condette, Accreditation and Member Services at AACSB International’s EMEA (the Netherlands), Denis McGrath, Vice-President, European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education ENAEE, Brussels and Coen van der Krogt, Elsevier (the Netherlands)

Among the Polish speakers were  Prof. Jan Szmidt, president of Conference of Rectors of  Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP), Prof. Krzysztof Diks, president of Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) and Waldemar Siwiński, president of the Perspektywy Education Foundation. Excellent guests: Prof. Łukasz Szumowski, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Prof. Jerzy Woźnicki, president of the Central Council of Higher Education, Prof. Maciej Żylicz, president of the Foundation for Polish Science, Dr Zygmunt Krasiński, director of the National Contact Point "Horizon 2020", Dr Paweł Poszytek, general director of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE), Dr Łukasz Wojdyga, director of Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA),

At the conference six IREG Observatory members were represented, four from Poland: Jagiellonian University, Kozminski University, Perspektywy Education Foundation, Warsaw University of Technology and Shanghai Ranking Consultancy (China) and CHE Centre for Higher Education (Germany).
