The Complete University Guide is published by Mayfield University Consultants and is aimed at students seeking admission to UK universities and other stakeholders. The league table ranks a total of 131 universities, 13 specialist colleges and conservatoires, and 70 subjects.
The latest edition shows Cambridge in first place, as it has been for the last eight years. The rankings are quite stable at the top but there aresome significant changes further down. The university of Aberdeen and De Montfort University, Leicester, have risen 12 placeseach to 28th and 70th while City, University of London has fallen 24 places to 66th and Falmouth University 27 places to 90th.
The top five universities overall are:
- University of Cambridge
- University of Oxford
- London School of Economics
- Imperial College London
- St Andrews University.

Student satisfaction; University of Buckingham
Research quality; Imperial College London
Research intensity; University of Cambridge and Queen’s University Belfast
Graduate prospects; St George’s, University of London
Student staff ratio; University College London

Good honours degrees; University of Oxford
Degree completion; University of Cambridge.
